Fusible Web?

I'm looking for some suggestions from those of you who applique and use fusible web. So far, I have tried two different kinds: Pellon's Wonder Under and Heat 'N Bond Lite. The Wonder Under just didn't work for me, even with following instructions. I had most it peel off with the paper , if the paper came off at all. It is nicer than the Heat 'N Bond as it is thinner, but the negatives outweigh that. The Heat 'N Bond Lite smells something awful when I put it on fabric and my machine does not like sewing over it. I have enough FMQ under my belt that I know it's not because of inexperience. I do like how it bonds to fabric and that the paper peels off easily.

So my question to you is, what brand do you use? I don't mind ordering online if I have to. I have just been trying out my options that Joann's carries so far.

I've used both and don't normally have any problems with either, but I did get a bad roll of heat n bond lite once. It just wouldn't peel right at all, but other rolls have been fine.

Katie, I like Steam a Seam Lite 2. It adheres well but is lightweight enough to sew through easily. I also like that is has paper on both sides so it doesn't get gummy when stored.

Occasionally it doesn't adhere as well for me, but it can be from the same roll, so I think maybe it's to do with the way I'm ironing... not sure. I buy locally and don't know the brand, so no help, sorry, Katie.

I haven't had any issues with Pellon Wonder Under and I haven't used Heat 'n Bond yet. It is possible that you might have gotten a bad (or old?) batch or that you need more heat/time to adhere it. If you still are having issues after trying some different things, try contacting the customer service at either or both companies. I know from experience that the people at Pellon are really nice and would be very interested in helping. :)

I really like Misty Fuse....but only if you have a pressing sheet to use with it. Otherwise it is a mess.

Wonderunder and Steam-a-seam usually work well too.

I love Mistyfuse. It's so lite that I can use layers of it and it's a breeze to sew through.
